Which parcel size is my item?

Measure your packed parcel, weigh it, and see which carrier formats it fits. Below that: every limit with a link to the carrier's own page, and how Vinted and eBay labels work.

We only list sizes and rules. Carriers change their prices often, so check the price on the carrier's site or at checkout on eBay or Vinted.

How Vinted shipping labels work

When you list an item, Vinted suggests a parcel size from the details you give (category, size, brand and so on) and shows each carrier's limits. Check it against your packed parcel before you publish.

When a buyer checks out with Vinted's shipping, they pay for the label. You get a prepaid digital label or a code in your Vinted inbox, with instructions for where to drop it off. You have to use that label.

Once the buyer has paid, the carrier and parcel size can't be changed. If the parcel is bigger than the limits, the carrier may refuse it or charge extra. In the UK, Vinted's standard items (clothes, shoes, books, toys) have a 2 kg limit across its carriers, and heavier items such as consoles or dinner sets have their own limits. If your packed item is over every limit, you can't list it on Vinted.

Vinted suggests taking photos of the item and the packed parcel before you send it, in case the buyer reports a problem.

How eBay postage labels work in the UK

Private sellers on eBay.co.uk use Simple Delivery for eligible items. When you create the listing, eBay recommends a weight, dimensions and delivery service. If the size looks wrong, pick a different preset size.

When the item sells you get a prepaid label and a QR code. Drop the parcel at a drop-off point (or book a collection where it's offered). No printer? Show the QR code and the carrier prints the label. For InPost, the QR code opens a locker. Simple Delivery covers UK and Channel Islands deliveries.

Business sellers can buy and print labels through eBay or use their own carrier account.

Selling from France or Spain

Vinted works the same way in France and Spain: the buyer picks a carrier at checkout and pays for the label, and you send it with the prepaid label you're given. The carriers on offer depend on your country and the buyer's, and the size limits are shown when you list.

If you post a parcel yourself (for eBay or Leboncoin, say), check the limits in the table above against the carrier's own page before you print a label.

Measuring and weighing

Pack the item first, then measure the parcel. Length is the longest side, width the next and height the shortest. Round up to the next whole centimetre.

Weigh it with the packaging. Kitchen scales are fine for light parcels; for heavier ones, weigh yourself holding the parcel and subtract your own weight.

Some carriers limit the total of the sides (length + width + height) or the length plus girth (length + 2 × width + 2 × height) instead of a fixed box. The checker above does the maths for you.

Packing so it fits the smaller size

Clothes: fold them flat or roll them and use a mailing bag, not a box. Squeeze the air out before you seal it.

Shoes: the shoe box keeps them in shape but adds bulk. If the box matters to the buyer (collectable trainers), put it inside a second box or a strong bag so the shoe box isn't covered in labels.

Fragile things: a box only a little bigger than the item, with padding on every side so nothing moves when you shake it.

Cover or remove old labels and barcodes so the parcel isn't scanned to the wrong address.
