How to sell kids' clothes on Vinted and eBay

Parents buying second-hand kids' clothes want to fill a size quickly and know there are no surprises. Clear ages, good bundles and honest notes about stains do most of the work.

Before you list

Children's clothing has safety rules on cords and drawstrings, especially around the hood and neck for young children. Remove or don't sell items that don't meet them, and check the platform's rules on children's products.

What buyers check

  • The age range on the label, for example 2-3 years, and the height if the label shows it.
  • Stains, especially food and grass marks on fronts and knees.
  • Bobbling, fading and holes at knees and elbows.
  • Whether a bundle matches a season and gender style they want.
  • Smoke-free and pet-free homes, which many parents ask about.
  • Brand, for school uniform and popular children's brands.
  • Safety: drawstrings at the neck or hood on young children's clothes.

Photos to take

  1. For bundles, everything laid out together in one clear shot.
  2. Each item on its own, front and back.
  3. Size labels, readable.
  4. Knees, cuffs and fronts close up.
  5. Any stains or marks, in good light.
  6. Character prints and details, which buyers often search for.

The photo station's shot checklist ticks these off as you go, and it works on your phone.

What to put in the title

  • Start with what it is: 'boys bundle', 'girls dress', 'baby sleepsuits'.
  • Add the age range exactly as labelled: 3-6 months, 2-3 years.
  • Name the main brands in a bundle.
  • Add season or theme: summer, winter, school, character name.
  • Give the number of items in a bundle.

Example title

Girls Summer Bundle Age 4-5 Years Next M&S Dresses Shorts Tops 12 Items

Words buyers search for

  • age range (0-3 months, 2-3 years, 9-10 years)
  • boys, girls, unisex, baby
  • bundle
  • brand names (Next, M&S, H&M, Zara Kids, Boden)
  • school uniform
  • character or theme
  • season (summer, winter)

Measurements and details to include

  • Age and height from the label.
  • For items that run large or small, the length and chest measurements laid flat.
  • For shoes, the UK size and insole length.
  • For bundles, the number of each item type.

Describing condition

  • Say 'small mark on the front of the white top, see photo 4' rather than 'some marks'.
  • Mention bobbling and fading so parents know what to expect.
  • If a bundle is mixed condition, say which items are better and which show wear.
  • Only use 'new with tags' for items that still have them.

Where it tends to sell

Kids' clothes tend to suit Vinted, where parents shop by age, brand and bundle, and where buying several items from one seller is easy.

Larger mixed bundles by age also sell on eBay and local selling groups, especially when collection is possible.

Single low-value items are often easier to sell as part of a bundle than on their own.

Packing and postage

  • Fold items flat and pack in a plastic bag inside a mailing bag.
  • Small items can fit a large letter, but most bundles need a small parcel, so check the packed thickness.
  • Big bundles can get heavy quickly: weigh before choosing a size.
  • Vacuum or compression bags help bulky winter bundles fit a smaller parcel size.

Not sure which parcel size you need? Check the postage size guide.

Common mistakes

  • Bundles with mixed sizes and no list of what's in them.
  • Hiding stains in folds.
  • Listing a single vest or pair of socks on its own when it would sell better in a bundle.
  • Leaving out the age range in the title.

Questions

Should I sell kids' clothes as bundles or single items?
Bundles by age and season usually save you time and suit parents filling a size. Branded or special items, like a good winter coat or occasion wear, can be listed on their own.
Do I need to wash everything first?
Yes. Buyers expect clean clothes, and smells or marks are a common reason for complaints.
Can I sell school uniform?
Yes, plain and branded uniform is often wanted. Include the school name only for branded items, and check there's nothing with a child's name written inside.
